Sakata Afrique Dance Show Costuming

Since my junior spring, I was part of Sakata Afrique, an afro-caribbean dance team. My senior year, I had the honor of designing and doing the costumes for our annual dance show, AfroShake. I incorporated a high neck, jewel neckline with a tapered cut in the front with a tie wrap in the back. I also designed and sewed the bottom wraps in the other pattern. This project took me two weeks to make both costumes for each of the 25 members on the team!

Patterns

The patterns were quite simple, incorporating a front piece and the two back wrap panels. The design was draped onto a mannequin and the pattern then copied. It was quite fun to make this project, and tested my speed in my sewing skills. I sharped my skills in Illustrator and Adobe to create this design.
